Your Day With Julius
An example of how a standard day with us is structured for you and your students. Please contact us to discuss any bespoke requirements you might need from your workshop or view our testimonial page for examples.

The students arrive at the marching camp, meet Julius Marcellinus and look at the equipment of a Roman legionary.
- Look at and handle camp equipment
- Talk about the history of the invasion

Session II
Camp Life
The students will sign up and become legionaries for the morning. They will have the opportunity to experience camp jobs and play Roman legionary games. We will finish the morning with some ‘delicious’ Roman hardtack and making a 2000-year-old lentil stew recipe.
Session III
Artefact Handling
The students will work in groups to become history detectives. They will handle a range of authentic Roman artefacts: try to work out their purpose and find the red herrings.
Session IV
Time To March
The students will be put through their paces with some authentic legionary training.
- Learn how to handle a Roman shield
- Practise marching in time
- Look at some different formations including the v formation
- Perform the testudo (teacher will become the Celts and get to throw things at the students)
All commands will be in Latin!
